At the heart of DustDog is a lifelong passion for building.
Growing up on a family farm in rural Kansas, I learned early that when something breaks, you fix it — and when something doesn’t exist, you make it. Whether to save time, money, or just for the challenge, creating has always been second nature to me.
Over the years, I’ve explored everything from pottery and RC planes to dune buggies and a street rod. But for the past 40 years, I’ve mainly built software. A few years ago, I added woodworking to the mix — starting like many others, in a garage workshop.
When Kansas winters made the garage unbearable, I looked to move into my large unfinished basement. That meant finally addressing the one thing I’d put off for too long: dust collection.
Like many, I wanted Nordfab — the gold standard. I’d admired their clean, modular design and dust-collection-first engineering. But the price of an industrial-grade system just didn’t make sense for a home shop.
PVC seemed like the only affordable option, but after seeing the shortcomings of using plumbing parts for dust collection, I realized I had to build something better. DustDog was born from that need: a system that offers the flexibility and performance of Nordfab, at a price real woodworkers can justify.
